Arganova®
(argatroban monohydrate)
What is Arganova®?
Arganova® is a direct thrombin inhibitor. Arganova® is a prescription drug that is exclusively used in hospitals.
Who is Arganova® for?
Arganova® is for patients suffering from heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT).
What does Arganova® do?
Arganova® blocks the effect of thrombin, a substance in the blood that plays an important role in blood coagulation.
It is a form of anticoagulant therapy. As a result of exposure to heparin (anticoagulant therapy), some patients develop HIT. If there are any suspicions of HIT, heparin administration should be ceased. If parenteral anticoagulant therapy is necessary in these cases, Arganova® can be administered.
