What is Gonasi®?

Gonasi contains a hormone known as human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) and has been obtained from the urine of pregnant women. hCG belongs to a group of medicines called gonadotropins, which are natural hormones that play a role in reproduction and fertility.

Each package of Gonasi® contains:

  • a vial (type I-glass) of powder for injection and
  • a pre-filled syringe of solvent (liquid) for injection
  • a long needle to prepare the medicine and for injection of the medicine in the muscle tissue
  • a short needle for injection under the skin.

Each injection contains a strength of 5000IU

What is Gonasi® used for?

Gonasi® stimulates the development and maturation of multiple eggs in women treated with assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

Gonasi can also be used to promote the release of an egg from the ovary in women who do not naturally produce eggs or in women who naturally produce too little eggs

Gonasi® should be used under your doctor’s supervision unless your doctor has told you otherwise.
