Efmody®

(hydrocortisone modified-release capsules 5 mg and 10 mg)

What is Efmody?

Efmody® (modified-release hydrocortisone) is a medicine used in the treatment of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), a rare inherited disorder, and a condition known as adrenal insufficiency (AI).

One pack of Efmody® contains a bottle with 50 hard capsules with controlled release. One capsule contains the substance hydrocortisone and is available in two strengths: 5 mg and 10 mg.

Who is Efmody® for?

Efmody® can be prescribed by doctors for adolescents aged 12 years and older, as well as adults, for the treatment of adrenal insufficiency (AI) or congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).

What does Efmody®do?

Efmody® contains the active substance hydrocortisone in a modified-release formulation. Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids and is a synthetic version of the natural hormone cortisol. Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands and plays an essential role in the body.

Efmody® is used when the body does not produce enough cortisol due to congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) or adrenal insufficiency (AI).
